Sy Safransky and Sun contributors John Brehm, Krista Bremer, David James Duncan, and Brenda Peynado will read from their work. This event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6 PM (no tickets required).

The AWP Conference & Bookfair
If you’re planning to attend the 2019 AWP Conference & Bookfair, March 28–30 at the Oregon Convention Center, you can meet The Sun’s staff at Booth 6014 in the Bookfair, which is open to the public at a reduced rate on Saturday, March 30.
We are also hosting an on-site event for registered conference attendees. To celebrate The Sun’s forty-fifth anniversary, Sy Safransky will join contributors John Brehm, David James Duncan, Ellen Bass, and Susan Straight for a reading of work from the magazine.

In His Own Words: A Tribute to Brian Doyle
This event is sold out.
Brian Doyle — the acclaimed essayist, author, and longtime editor of Portland Magazine — died of a brain tumor in May 2017. Brian was a prolific writer and contributed often to The Sun and Orion. The Sun’s editor and founder, Sy Safransky, and Orion’s executive director and editor-in-chief, Chip Blake, will host a reading of Brian’s work featuring Robin Cody, David James Duncan, John Freeman, Jourdan Imani Keith, Michael N. McGregor, Brenda Miller, Aimee Nezhukumatathil, Kim Stafford, and Joe Wilkins.
The reading is free and open to the public, but tickets are required for entry. The event is currently sold out. To sign up for the waiting list, click here. (If you reserved tickets but are unable to attend, please let the theater know so we can offer those seats to others.)
